Benefits of playing the `ukulele

Playing the `ukulele engages a person in so many ways. A `ukulele player learns the following:
1) Timing
2) Listening
3) Interaction with their instrument, and others around them.
4) The results of practice and repetition
5) Coordination
The student learns self-discipline, and self-respect. They learn through patience and practice, they can achieve a skill. The student’s ability to think and remember is enhanced, and you’re getting them excited about something positive and life enhancing.
The student also develops a voice. They are able to express themselves in a very positive way. There are thousands of forces, and means to detour people from finding their voice. My only hope is that I can help all the people in my Nui `ukulele program, find their voice.
The student eventually gets to a point where they OWN a song. It is theirs, they are engaged, and they feel a sense of pride, and self-worth. Why? because they earned it. Nobody can give you the skill to play the `ukulele. Nobody can put it together for you. Only the `ukulele player themselves can put the skill, the feelings, and the heart together to make wonderful music.
